Head to Parkes for the 2011 NSW Landcare and Catchment Management Forum incorporating the NSW Landcare Awards from September 5th - 7th, 2011.

2011 NSW Landcare and Catchment Management Forum: Thinking Differently

The forum will address a variety of environmental issues facing landholders, government and industry proponents, education institutions and urban communities. It represents a must-attend for practitioners across all of these sectors and will provide a forum for extensive interaction.

The forum will offer presentations, field trips, discussions and case studies with the aim of building knowledge and partnerships in the Landcare and Catchment Management community and to create a way forward.

The theme Thinking Differently will underpin conference sessions, highlighting the fact that the natural resource management world is changing and the time for action is now.

The 2011 Landcare and Catchment Management Forum incorporating the 2011 NSW Landcare Awards will run in conjunction with the 2011 NSW Landcare Inc. Muster.

Media Release

Parkes and Districts Landcare will host the 2011 NSW Landcare & Catchment Management Forum in Parkes from the 5-7 September.

The forum will attract delegates from all over New South Wales involved with all levels of Landcare from farmers and community representatives to industry and business professionals aiming to solve the problems of today with new ideas and approaches.

The Forum will open with the Kate Kelly Song Cycle, also part of the inaugural Kalari Lachlan River Arts Festival, at Forbes Lagoon Sunday 4th September 2011.

Merrill Findlay the creative director of the project said “We are planning an amazing experience for Landcare Forum participants – with the Kate Kelly Project; the history, landscapes and story of this unique place will be unveiled over a day, which will be a great start to the conference –all held in the beautiful surrounds of the Forbes Lagoon”.

Following on the Monday will be the Landcare NSW Muster and then two days of workshops and discussion during the Landcare Forum. This dynamic event will boast a range of cutting edge speakers and workshop sessions and field trips to see innovative local Landcare works.

On the Tuesday night will be the NSW Landcare Awards Ceremony and Dinner.

Regional Landcare Facilitator Gerald Carnie said, “This is such an important event. We are really excited to show visitors from all over the state the Parkes Elvis spirit and Elvis will be performing at the awards.”
Gerald added “The theme ‘Thinking Differently’ will underpin forum activities, highlighting the fact that the natural resource management world is changing and the time for action is now.

The September Forum is critical to the future resilience of the Landcare networks, and their efforts to continue building resilience in landscapes across NSW. We’ll be getting people together to set directions for Landcare and other Land Mangers, as these people are critical to helping local communities to be strong and ready for the natural resource challenges ahead”.
