Date:
3 Jul 2010 - 2:00pm

The Ryde Hunters Hill Flora and Fauna Preservation Society has a workshop on Aboriginal heritage in the Buffalo Creek wetland (near Ryde) at 2 pm, Saturday 3 July 2010, at the Visitors Centre in the Field of Mars Reserve and Wildlife Refuge, East Ryde.

Dharug is the name of the people of the Sydney region, including the Walumeda clan who lived in the Ryde area. Mr Richard Green, a Dharug descendant and distinguished storyteller, actor and teacher will be in action with story, song and dance starting at 2pm.

Later he will be talking about the indigenous inhabitants of the area, giving an idea of their way of life and language.

The Field of Mars Reserve is located off Pittwater Rd which runs between Epping Rd, North Ryde and Victoria Rd, Gladesville. The Visitors Centre is a short walk into the bushland reserve.

Register for the workshop via email rhhffps@optusnet.com.au.
