Eco Ferry Trips - Boat tour of the Pittwater Estuary
The Coastal Environment Centre, a facility of Pittwater Council, is offering a series of boat cruises along the beautiful Pittwater Estuary in the summer months from December to March.
Pittwater Estuary is an environmental jewel, nestled at the top of the Northern Beaches peninsula, with unsurpassed views and a rich cultural heritage. These cruises are a relaxing, enjoyable and social day out; that include an opportunity to learn more about the local coastal environment from local experts.
Participants will cruise from Palm Beach, to Mackerel Beach, then to The Basin where you will enjoy a gourmet lunch and return to Palm Beach. This day out has mastered the art of merging social interaction with an enjoyable learning experience from local environmental educators. This event is a family-friendly event with activities for kids and families.
The day’s activities will include:
- Boat tour of Pittwater estuary.
- Up-close viewing of seagrass-friendly moorings & walk and talk on saltmarsh and seagrass.
- Informal workshops may include: bird-watching, Indigenous culture and heritage, fish and recreational fishing, snorkeling (must bring own equipment and pre-book), Oyster industry on the Hawkesbury, bushcraft, Inter-tidal marine animals (workshops may change without notice).
- Organised fun activities for children, including bushcraft.
- Cold lunch and refreshments included.
- Discussions will cover the multitude of ecosystems at work and how daily activity can bring long-term changes - to natural resources including water, plants, animals and air.
The cost is $55 per adult, $25 for children (10-15yrs), $8 per child (6-9yrs) and kids under 6 years are free (max 2 per booking; additional children $5 each). Kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
