ph. 02-6205 2913

What is PlaceStories?

Landcare NSW Inc.

PlaceStories is a software system for managing digital media, creating digital stories and publishing online through Google Maps. PlaceStories is supporting the storytelling, networking and digital communication needs of community organisations, government agencies and others who work with communities, particularly rural and regional areas. It is an excellent way for NRM and landcare groups around our region to share their stories.

The training is for a full day and available on either the 7th or the 8th July.

Dates: 7th or 8th July 2009
Time: 9:15am - 4:30pm (training will start at 9:30am so come early and have time to get a cuppa)
Venue: Billabong Aboriginal Corporation, 158 Stockdill Drv, Holt ACT 2615

PlaceStories

What to bring:

  • Your own photos - between 10-20 photos. It's important the photos are your own so you can construct a story. These could be NRM/landcare photos or others such as holiday snaps or photos of your favourite bands.
  • Your ideas about a story. What story do you want to tell? Who do you want to tell it to? Why do you want to tell it?
  • Other documentation e.g. text, maps, music clips etc.
  • Your own lunch. There are no shops within walking distance from the training. The closest shops to Billabong Aborginal Corporation is Kippax Centre which is about a 5 minute drive.

Suggestions for preparation:
You can download PlaceStories for free and play around with the program before the training.

If you don't have time to explore for yourself, you can have a look at other people's PlaceStories to help you get an idea of what story you'd like to tell.
